ALEXA SKILL: DESTINY 2 GHOST

Voice Activation Studies
Conducted 1 on 1 usability testing in early Alpha stages of development to gauge potential product success
Compiled utterance lists from users for developer use and implementation to the Skill in real time
Developers and programmers would watch streams of the 1 on 1's and with researcher help, be able to implement in real time new versions of commands players were requesting
Assessed participant willingness to buy the physical Alexa Ghost product, based only on their appreciation and reception to the Skill itself
Voice Technology - A Usability Minefield
The Alexa Ghost was an incredibly interesting project to work on from a user research perspective. Voice technology adds a whole new element to UX, and much of our research was done on vocal utterances, and capturing what users wanted from their devices and how they would ask for it. User expectations and instructions varied wildly, and it was fun to try and bridge the gap between different participants with the development team, ultimately incorporating as many asks and utterances into the skill as possible. In the end, we got as close as was achievable to asking the device anything you wanted, and if it couldn't do it, it would at least redirect you (although in a somewhat snarky way).
